The Pearl Diver’s Daughter
VCS recorded dancers Sarah Pippin and Stefanie Noll in Vancouver for Part 1 of The Pearl Diver’s Daughter. Company E’s 2021 artist spotlight describes their March capture session inside a structure containing hundreds of cameras. Their recorded performances became augmented-reality dancers.
Company E developed the programme with the U.S. Embassy in the United Arab Emirates and the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, combining Gulf pearl-diving stories, dance and music with AR performance. Its stage photographs show the live production; the capture work supplied the performances for the augmented component.
